The Full Story

My Journey

Born in Aguadulce, Panama, Dinett Hok earned a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Art from the University of Panama and studied under master artist Manuel Chong Neto. After marrying a U.S. Air Force member, she moved to Newnan, Georgia nearly thirty years ago and has proudly called the United States home ever since.

Early in her career she specialized in detailed watercolor portraits. Over time she sought greater creative freedom and developed her signature technique: permanently preserving real flowers, driftwood, and other natural elements so they remain vibrant and alive. By embedding these authentic materials directly into the canvas, she creates contemporary mixed-media paintings rich in heavy texture and luminous color.

Artist Statement

Nature is the purest form of art. My work celebrates its beauty by incorporating genuine elements — driftwood, preserved flowers, leaves, sand, and metals including 24K gold — into mixed-media paintings. These textures are woven into rich, vibrant compositions that honor nature’s adaptability and resilience.

Driftwood, a recurring element in my pieces, symbolizes nature’s ability to conform and endure. Whether serene beach scenes or abstract creations, my goal is to capture a fragment of nature’s unparalleled beauty and share my interpretation with every viewer.

My Approach

Every piece is completely one-of-a-kind. My signature process creates depth and authenticity that can only come from working directly with nature’s own materials. The result is artwork that feels alive — rich in texture, luminous in color, and deeply connected to the natural world.

I continue to draw inspiration from the freedom of creativity and the diverse experiences I have shared with artists and individuals from many backgrounds.
